- Cut and clean the fishes properly. Marinate the fishes with turmeric powder salt. Keep it aside.
- In a bowl take the poppy seed and mustard seed and soak it with some water for 10 mins. Then make a smooth paste with the green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic and ginger. Then add turmeric powder, salt as per taste and little water. Mix it and keep it aside.
- Now heat mustard oil in a kadai and fry the marinated fishes.
- In the same kadai add kalonji seed. When the oil become fragrant add the masala mix. Add mustard oil and then add the fried fishes. And cook it for 5 to 6 mins. Taste the seasoning at this point and add salt if required.
- The delicious bata fish with poppy seed is ready to serve. Enjoy it with hot steamed rice.
